Blackstone Valley Umpires Association (B.V.U.A) was founded in Woonsocket, R.I. by famed coach, Triple Crown Winner, and veteran umpire Tommy Brien. It has been his passion to build an association with professional talented umpires.

 

Our group covers over 900 games each year. We cover Baseball and Boftball for Little League (Minors, Majors, Juniors, Seniors), RI District 4 All Stars, Middle Schools, A.A.U., R.B.I,  and many weekend tournaments during the year.

 

Our Goal
We strive to offer the best officiating on the field using our skills, training and rules interpretations. How DO we DO it?

 

• Because we officiate under different league rules, we spend a lot of time cross training in all the divisions of baseball and softball.

• We have more combined experience than any other group in Rhode Island and nearby Massachussettes. Our umpires range in ages from 15 to 70 - all thoroughly trained and all have a deep respect for their role as an official.

• ​

• To set an example for the players, all of our umpires meet our high caliber of professionalism and are always in uniform when they step onto the playing field.
